I am looking to reassemble the crankshaft for my 1971 and have the new stud, bolt and tab kit from from Andover.

Can anyone advise on the the correct configuration? The only reference in the shop manual I could find was for the later style stud and nut kit.

I think it is the following, but want to double check to be sure:

Top Holes: Bolts with the long nuts
Middle Holes: Bolts with short nuts
Bottom Holes: Studs with short nuts and
locking tabs each side

Unfortunately all the good pics I had before disassembly were lost with my old phone. Also the cardboard template with all the hardware attached got scattered when the kids were in the shop.

Any help or pics would be much appreciated.

Yes, the same as all studs.

Note that the 1971 parts diagram has the long nuts '16' (NM23280) at the middle position which is incorrect.

The top nuts are only longer so it's easier to use a spanner/wrench on them without slipping.

Be certain the bolt hex points are not hung up on the radius of the spot face of the crank half. I had to file the points off these so the bolt contact was correct for accurate tightening.
