Very nice - looking good.
How far before it runs ?

Why the mention of Lyster AND Dunstall though.
Wasn't Colin Lyster a separate operation, and in opposition/competition with Paul Dunstall ?
Where do the Kennedy Lster brakes come into it too - were/weren't they similar (same ?) as the Dunstall twin disks ??

Pre-Commando Kennedy mention

This pic was all over the late 1960s for a 650SS done to the max.....

Very Good . Maybe take a template from the caliper mounting brackets & clamps . :?

Hi
The Dunstal race bikes used Colin Lysters disc brake long before Paul produced his own.
Floating disc too pretty neat. Did I post photos of the set up I sold. It had original yellow plastic hose!!!!

Chris - I have the original red plastic hoses but I will be using modern hoses for safety. and also have an extra set of calipers and a an extra master cylinder. How much did you get for the set you sold?

Matt - Are you saying you need a template of the mounting brackets?

What blue boxes?

Oh, they are full of Norton parts

Can someone tell me what the 3 hole bracket is for and how it's mounted? I have this bracket however have no idea what it's for.

It looks exactly like the ones I have. By any chance did you sell it to Jim?
I'm not sure, it looks like the stuff, how many master cylinders are around like that? Where are the correct exhaust pipes :?

My 850 Dunstall that I sold at Barbers is now on Ebay, having a lot of sellers remorse, threw a little bid its ways for old times sake!

Isn't that for mounting the fluid reservoir?

Hi
Grandpaul is right. On the very first set up the lever operated a rod to a remote cylinder.

Chris

look at the photo above it uses a regular mc without a remote reservoir, must be an extra bracket from an earlier setup. The bike did not come with the dual disc option the original buyer did not order it. I pieced those brake parts together after years of finding them.

Jim,

I had the original Dunstall mufflers ceramic coated and will be installing them today. The pipes will be installed soon once I figure out a way to replace the nuts. I'm using the chromed ones for the meantime

I tried that already but I think I may have used the wrong split collars. I will try again.

What do you think of the progress so far?

A very inspiring project, it is really beautiful. I've never liked dual seats with the racing hump, however it is of the era, and I cannot think of anything else which would be appropriate. Part of the attraction of those specials was their visual similarity to the racing bikes of the era.
