I’m looking at a 1957 Road Rocket. Are the collectible? It’s complete and actually has a title.

What do you guys think of this for a restoration? It’s been sitting for over 30 years and used to be a flat track racer.

Please leave your thoughts.

Thanks

I wonder if there is a way to research racing history by VIN or engine numbers?

Is there a racing assn that tracks history?

I do not believe any racing organisations tracked engine or frame numbers for posterity.

Looks like a nice resto project, def worth doing if you want one… but not as a profit making exercise.

I bought the last version of the sporting A10 , a 1963 Super Rocket, in 2015. Since then I've watched prices now and then as you do when you own a particular model.
I bought the Super Rocket as a poor man's Rocket Goldstar- same engine, same frame, but much better road gearbox with the SR, and of course much lower in price than an RGS.
Rocket Goldstars were about 20 to 25 k US at the time. Since its so easy to do, many are fakes, just RRs or SRs with different cosmetic bits added.
I've watched the Road Rockets, Gold Flashes and Super Rockets climb in price while the Rocket Goldstars have fallen. Goldstar DBD34s have also fallen during that time, quite dramatically.
So I would say the RRs and SRs are somewhat collectible.
I managed to snag a pretty decent one that just needed some cosmetic items and a magneto rebuild.
Hoping to use it a lot this year!
They aren't a fast bike but they have very good low end grunt, so they work well for 2 up riding on moderate speed highways, say 60 mph.
They are also extremely comfortable to ride. Maybe it's the new RK Leighton saddle that helps.
I think they are one of the prettiest of British twins.

Nice
I see you have one of the best tls front brakes fitted 👍
The price for any BSA has fallen through the floor in the UK

Yes, that brake is excellent!
I was surprised at the Mecum Las Vegas sales results last January.
It will be interesting to see what happens at the same sale next week.

Here's a few of the Mecum Jan 2024 results

That’s a really vice bike. I’m not doing this to make any money, I was just curious. I love a good project.

This one interests me because of its racing background. If I get it, I may restore it as a flat track racer.
