I am sure this has been discussed before but i can't find it or at least the information am after.
The double row sprocket bearing 067688 is a none sealed type and as i am soon going to fit my one piece rear axle from Don i think its good time to replace it with a sealed one. The bearing bearing is listed as 4302 but for a 43022rs version i can only find "budget brand" items on Simply Bearings site.
So what is the code number for FAG or SKF as i wish to fit a good quality sealed bearing as a direct replacement.

4203 2RS is what you need, had I known I could of supplied one with the axle, but it would be to costly to ship one from here

Simply Bearings list a FAG 622032RSR which looks like it may be ok and for some reason it sounds like the one i think i have heard of but in last few days i have read so much my head is spinning faster than the sprocket.

Buy the way Don is there a torque figure for your axle nut or should I just use the standard 80 lbs/ft figure?

4203 2RS is what you need, 80ftlbs seems a bit much , I've never used a torque wrench on axle nuts and I'd say most of the members here havent either.
you will know when its tight.

the 6203 single row is not what he was after

RGM say to use two of these. Anything wrong with doing that?

I believe that they mean use two as wheel bearings in the hub Eddie as they are 12mm wide an the sprocket bearing is 16mm wide.

yep but that ones not sealed, dont see the point in putting back an unsealed one with the felt seal crap, try and keep it simple. the 4203 2RS is not real common in bearing shops but you can get them

Gotcha !

I'd be tempted to say that the 4203-2RS is not very common - or better to say not available - from the the renowned manufacturers and I'd be very reluctant to use a wheel bearing of unknown origin.

I recently installed two SKS 6203 sealed bearings in place of the double row bearing , I shortened the spacer and left out the snap ring.

It was easier to get good bearings and 2 were still cheaper than a double row.

I installed a replacement this summer that was a sealed bearing sold as a replacement by one of our enterprising Norton suppliers several years ago. It said made in USA on the seal -but no manufacturer ID.

It lasted about 300 miles.

Once the seal was removed I found it was a single row bearing- just in a wide package. Jim

If this is real it is very important to reveal more specific info about this dangerous "double" row bearing because this can prevent us from using that bearing and prevent us from a possible serious road accident

It is real, or was real. The bearing I used was found still seal in a box in a friends garage.

The bearing I used has not been available for many years and to tell you the truth I don't remember who was selling them. I doubt that there are any like that available now.

After I pulled the seal and looked, I did remember seeing the problem before. I just had to learn it over. Jim

Was it similar to this bearing?

067688 double row bearing

I have one of these (appears to be exactly the same [Medwin?] but I sourced from AUS) I had been planning on installing in the next week or so. It would be good to know if it is any good, and was actually single or double row?

Don - is this the same one you sell, are they actually double row?

That looks similar to mine but not exactly the same. I can assure you my 4203 2rs bearings are double row. its easy to pop the rubber shields out and check

Hope it wasn't a well known supplier up here in Canada! I just installed madass's one piece axle and installed a sealed double row replacement bearing in the hub (gotten from said Canadian supplier)

I doubt that you would need to worry about buying a single row anymore.
I don't believe anyone makes a single row bearing with the double bearing dimensions any more.
The bearing I used was probably purchased 30 years ago.

Of course it's easy to pop a seal and find out. Jim
