Triumph Daytona timing

Hi is it possible to use a strobe to do the ignition timing on a 1967 triumph daytona with boyer ignition or can it only be set manually im a bit baffled with this as my 69 bonnie has access to the rotor on the primary case the daytona hasnt Brian

With Boyer ignition, the only way to set timing is by strobe.

You have to take the primary cover off and make your own pointer and marks on the alternator rotor.

I have a 68 Daytona and it's got a timing cover on the primary side cover that can be removed to strobe it. I thought the 67's were the same.

I know 67 BONNIIES don't, and 68s DO.

You can run the bike without the primary cover on, it won't hurt it for the time it takes to strobe time it.

You need to set up a very stiff wire pointer, mark your alternator rotor "just so", and set up the pointer alignment using a degree wheel.
