'74 Triumph Daytona clutch plates ?

Postby gjr » Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:36 pm

The clutch plates (postage stamp style) are all oily. Do they run in oil or should they be cleaned ?

The clutch worked fine before I took it apart, but no sense leaving a problem for later...

They'll get oily from being in the primary chaincase, ESPECIALLY if you use even a LITTLE bit too much.

Soak in gas, scrub them clean and leave in the sun to dry.

Scrub out your steel plates (both sides) on a smooth concrete surface to give them a consistent tacky refacing.

Should be fine.
