Anyone got any idea of a good bang for your buck tire? I am not necessarily interested in keeping it old school as I am wanting a good riding tire. So a newer one, with a newer tread design would be great. I live in the mountains so I am open to wider, bigger, taller, etc. These would be going on the Atlas bike.

I'd recommend Avons. I run the Universal Roadrider tire, and they're great. Excellent all around tire with good performance and really nice looks. I've got an Atlas as well, and they handle excellent.
I think they're about $115 a tire.

The old K 70s are a good dirt road tyre . and pretty good on tarmach , youd drag the pegs on a Domi , drifting .
If you had youre proton energy pill .

Were Carslialse ? Dunlop K70 & Pirreli used on Dirt Track. Perilli was the ' Coushin ' tyre , soft and flexible .
On a 750 the throttle controls the oversteer and you dont use throttle and lean simultaeneously .Specially on a Commando

K 70 is a bit better , a good hill billy tyre .And for fire breaks , trail bashing . Pretty good wear .

The Dunlop Universal I saw on an A65 from out beyond the tarseal , wasnt worn . he said it had been on for years,
and didnt wear , on the granit chip over clay roads . Thesed tear up al te edges on a K81 and could bruise the caseing.
So you steared clear of 6 in boulders. Went down the Horeke roads on the Bonnie on K 70s , avg 4 in granit ' stones ' in a lotta places . Bucking and bounceing and slideing dirt track style when you were game to throttle irt up .
They steered good on the chip seal tarmac too , and a single leader wouldnt overpower them .

The old Avon speedmasre and G.P. wernt cut for that sort of use .

The old Pz2 Michilins were pretty fancy .

Period tyres are probably going to work better if you believe feet should stay on the pegs , and you think the dirt bikes are fair game on the Gravle Roads , Block Pattern K-70s wont slde out easy on clay tracks .Yhough theyre not Mud pluggers .

The old Yokohama 470 knobbly was used for blokes who lived in the twistys out in the hills . Same throttle steer with flexing the knobs .Turkey rconed hed dragged the pegs on his T100 adventurer used one and a speedmaster 21 in front.Wore the sides of a KR76 with a B31 & 7 in front brake , The singles have got a bit more lean .

If your Atlas has the original 18 inch rear wheel, for maximum mileage-up to 15,000 miles, I recommend Continental TK17 120/90 x18.
Yes they really will last for 15K, just ask the London Despatch riders.
But Don’t fit a Continental on the front!!!
Use a Metzeler ME33, there, or Avon, Dunlop, e.t.c.

Avon AM26's handle the corners pretty good.
