T140E O-Ring conversion

Does anyone know of a source for sprockets/520 O/X Ring chain conversion for '79 Triumph? Can the Triumph swing a 530 X/O without modifications (overkill that it would be)?

Hi RS,

I'm guessing you've got a 750, you can run a standard 520 (non O ring) chain on your bike. The 650s should be a 530. The O ring chain would mean that you would have to machine down your sprockets and even then you may have clearance issues at the transmission tunnel. Personally I would stick with a good 520 section chain.
Here's some more discussion http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/show ... php?t=5502 and http://www.triumphrat.net/classic-vinta ... -size.html

I hope this helps

Thanks Webby.

I have come to the conclusion that I'll have to do this myself so I'll be making a part numbered product for RPC to sell to Triumph owners. I have found 520 47 tooth sprockets in stock at Sprocket Specialists and I ordered 2 20 tooth CS sprockets from one of my vendors which I will machine down to a accept the 520 chain.

Hi RS,

I can't see any other way of doing it. As far as I know there is nothing available off the shelf. The only place I know that doe's this type of thing regularly is Dresda in the UK who machine down the sprockets themselves.

All the best

Within 2-3 weeks I will have a kit for sale that should fit any member of the Triumph 750 five speed family, although I cam produce a kit for any 530 equiped Triumph, the kit will consist of front and rear sprockets (20 & 47 teeth respectively) as well as 110 link DID VM 520 chain; other gearing to customer specs. Shoot me a PM if you want a kit and we can discuss specifics.
