OK, got the update at 10:30 this Thursday morning. Steve is in the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. In Patient reports: He is post op, out of intensive, conscious, condition satisfactory and making good progress. At present, visitors are restricted to family or prior approval. I will check again in a few days and see if I can visit. I was informed he has someone looking after his affairs.

If anyone wishes to call, the telephone number is +61 3 9276 2000. You will have to ask for In Patient inquiry and will be directed to that reception. They will ask for relevant details and they may put you through to Steve's room.

PS - Foxy thanks for posting that great pic of Steve and yourself in the pits.

Steve is recovering well. He's had the drain removed from his lung, but still on oxygen for the time being.

His collarbone and hip have been plated. He says if all goes well he might be allowed fly home in a weelk or so.

His wife arrived there this morning and is busy tidying up after him.....a bit like home from home!!

He doesn't remember too much about the accident, but thinks that the bike isn't too badly damaged.

Pretty good news all round considering what he's just been through!!

Get well Steve! I know how he feels... Steve was at Daytona spectating last year when I won on the Commando and then in the next race had a massive crash when a rod bolt sheared causing a violent engine seizure that spat me off at 130 mph, putting me in the hospital. Hope to see you back!
