South Bay Norton still selling exhausts for 961?

Postby RKF848 » Wed Jan 18, 2017 8:13 pm

Does anyone know if South Bay Norton is still selling exhaust systems for the 961? Email thru website is not working and phone number disconnected. Did they go out of business? Any other open exhaust options for USA?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

Just get the MOTADS from Norton. There are options, OPEN MEGAPHONE, Shorties, LONG OPEN and original quiet. The megaphones are insanely loud.

I've called that number a few times. Only once successfully. I don't think the have staff that monitors the phones very well. I got M.C. on his cell phone on a dial back, but felt bad because he was driving. So good luck. Keep trying.

I called Matt Capris personal cell phone and he has not responded to my calls or text. Hope he's ok! I just purchased all my polished norton parts through him a few months ago. Matt and I talked on the phone pretty often since August and texted back and forth a few times a week until a month ago.

I second Richard.
I put the shortie Motads on and holy shit, it was a whole new world! I would stop trying to chase Capri and move on. I have Callum's email, he will get you sorted out and ship them to your house. It was super quick as well (they were on backorder, but that was only a two week delay, boom box was in my hands 3 days after he told me it was sent). It was nuts, I don't get eBay shipments that quick.

Also, I have tried to propose helping the US side of parts and service, but very little to no response on that end. They have been awesome to deal with on my issue, but I would love to help them on the US side and really excel customer service. Just my two cents if anyone is listening.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm interested in the long open pipes on Norton's website, but I didn't think these could be brought into the USA? Like the raked look and sound of the SBN pipes, had the opportunity ride a 961 with these pipes. Not too crazy about placing an order online for the SBN pipes without speaking to someone directly at their store. My local dealer does not have a lot of info as they just started selling Nortons and I'm their first customer. I'll try Norton directly and see what they say about shipping pipes to the US.

Anybody running the long opens from Norton?

Those pipes are available to your dealer. You do not need to order them online.

Hello Richard-7 , That is good to know now. Because we both know this was not the case just a couple of years ago. I could only get the SBN exhaust through my dealer at that time. I am glad Norton is finally catching up and taking care of this. The other nice thing would be Race Kits for the 961 , something developed by the factory !! Just like in the old days Norton Factory provided Race Kits and instructions etc. They are such a small concern that everything seems to take ages to get going . Now that the V4 is here , the 961 will take a back seat for a while again. I hope the V4 is a success for them and I pray they get this right the first time !! When you drop that kind of coin on a high performance motorcycle , it has to deliver all of the goods .

Well, there is open pipes and maps from norton uk. Carbon wheels from norton uk. There is a one07 racing generator and wires from us. Not a bad start.

I think the V4 is going to be a boutique bike too. 40 to 55K ? An Aprilia RSV4 is 16K. I would however like to see more items available for the Norton. Three years and aftermarket manufacturers still haven't taken notice. Everything has to be measured and researched to make sure it will fit. But on the bright side, There's not much I would want to do to change it.

I feel, it's because there is no volume to make it worth it for aftermarket. There are many ideas we have but hard to justify when we wont sell enough to cover the costs to tool up. Believe me when I say that one07 is for fun. If it was to put food on the table, it wouldnt be around. And if it wasnt for the generous donations from you folks. There wouldnt be manuals either.
