It Runs !!

Postby MATTT » Sat Jan 16, 2010 3:46 pm

finished off the wiring in the week and today managed to strip down the caliper and the master cylinder with the help of my dad

we then drained the sump and refilled the oil tank, drained the gearbox, which only had enough oil to cover the base of the container ! (hope tha doesnt mean its leaking into the chaincase) ?

cleaned the plugs
fresh fuel and yipee it started after about 6 kicks !

sounds brilliant, ive never had a bike that sounds so nice, and boy does it rev up quick on the throttle
the whole bike moved down the workshop a few inches on the stand :)

ticked over great so im more than happy

slight weep possibly from the head gasket onto the chrome ring on the exhaust manifold,so might have a head gasket problem?

just got the brake cylinder to get resleeved and caliper rebuilt

probably take the chaincase off and clean in there and its ready for an mot in the spring :)

i will take/ add a few pics if anyone would like a look

thanks for all the tips and help so far on here

cheers
matt

There are few things more satisfying than hearing a bike run for the first time or the first time in a long time.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

That's great, there are always a few bugs to work out but it sounds like a winner.
