Let's get something perfectly clear
ashman wrote:He got kicked off because a few members didn't like his funny stories and complained about them, I wish a lot of folks on this site didn't take things so serous,
Phil wasn't banned because of his "humorous (to some perhaps) ways" Aussie or otherwise, but because he had become a thorough pain in the neck.
I did receive several
complaints from other members and he was given more than one chance to 'tone it down a bit' all of which were ignored therefore he had to go. It is unfortunate as I thought Phil was a genuine enthusiast but he was just too much
and too full-on
all the time.
If anyone wishes to refresh their memory they can read through one of Phil's last threads to see the level of annoyance he was generating (especially the last few pages).commando-high-speed-stability-t19808.html
ashman wrote:I might get a few who will disagree with me but really I don't care,
Well, I care and I'm disagreeing with you.
For the most part, all he succeeded in doing was annoying several other members and generally disrupting the forum with his relentless over posting, constant interjections in other members' threads and repeatedly going off topic. Whilst I'm sure most members don't mind the occasional bit of humour and banter it's perfectly clear that's not what the vast majority come to accessnorton for.
ashman wrote:This has been on my mind for sometime now, Phil has no idea about this thread and I hope he gets the chance to come back.
No, he won't be allowed back.
ashman wrote: Like I said Phil met Jerry and out of fun he asked Jerry why he was banned, Jerry said he didn't ban him it was LAB
That's strange, and not how I remember it as I believe it was Jerry who finally pushed the ban button but no matter which one of us it was he was overdue to go.
ashman wrote: I have no problems with LAB as he knows his stuff and has help me out a few times, but a few members got in his ear about Phil and he banded him, it only takes a few to complain and thats that, not fair I think when so few can decide that,
A few!!!!!! I don't think you have the slightest idea how much of an annoyance he had become.
Maybe you don't mind spending every other evening replying to PM's from disgruntled forum members attempting to explain to them "why Phil Yates was still a member of the forum" but I bloody-well do, and I could seriously have done without it.
ashman wrote: Jerry relies on LAB to run the forum for him but I think he made a mistake
I totally disagree and I stand by that decision 100% whether it was actually me or Jerry who finally did the banning we were both in agreement that he had to go for the general good of the forum. And if you read Jerry's comments in the final post in the above thread link before he
locked the thread you should see Jerry was as thoroughly pissed off with him as I was by that time.
ashman wrote: and most of his fun was in the pub.
Now sadly, you are talking nonsense because we didn't even have the 'Pub' section at that time
As far as Phil is concerned it's case closed.
ashman wrote:Maybe its one of the reason our good friend Steve (Hobot) is not on much these days, so many takes things to serous, with the way things are going in the world a bit of humour and fun on the way helps.
Hobot can speak for himself.
He's old enough to know his own mind so as he has chosen not to post here as frequently then that was his decision
. I know some like his odd 'style' of writing while just as many others have said they do not.
