Really nice bike Stuart. A riding buddy who has allways loved his Kawi MKiii and trillion dollar 6 cylinder Honda CBX is now SO lusting for your bike!

Seems to impove the look of the font end no end, putting a British Motorcycle behind it .We'll let you of on that part .
Big fontana breake would look super cool , like the TZ copy . See youve put dual piston calipers on there too . .
The one rule to the exception , is theres the exeption to each rule .

A bit of an update

Lots of sorting and revamping..

Went for the first decent ride today ~ about 45 kms ~ plan was to get the road worthy for it and that involves riding to the next town where there are couple of qualified spanners . (And yes I do have a CTP !)

But ran into some issues ~

First~ spewing oil all over the carbs and rear block.... (think it was coming from the Inlet rocker oil feed.. so I removed the copper washers and fitted more substantial washer.. and tempered both before fitting and torquing to recommended setting of 22 Lbs ~)

Second the Clutch is a right plik and of course gear changing was not a happy event ~ adjustment is an art .. ( but I seemed to have sorted that now ~ or is that again !!)

Third ~ As I was going steady ~ a B double started to harangue me..

So I opted the game ~ giving it a bit of a fist full ~ ~ and the throttle stuck open ~

So I stopped and noted the indicators.. the Linkage was down so the problem lay with the slides ~ I sorted that ~ But will have to look further into that one ~

So canned the Road worthy and returned to base ~ BUT got in a great ride and assessment overall ~

In fact I have a T160 set and will finish those off and fit them ~

Overall ~ Suspension firm and ride solid.. the way I like it ~

The brakes front and rear work superbly ~ Handling is positive and sharp ~ Seat rebuild is great ~

BUT the BIG ONE ~ That exhaust even inside my helmet is SUUEE &^^*( PERB~ What beautiful sound ~ !!! )

Still no video as I am working nights and M works days so I have been playing by myself ~ But should be this week end ~

Very sharp, Stuart. Well done.

The mechanical banshee howl as a Trident comes on the cams is unlike any other bike. (at least any other bike that i own, and I have had a few)

Hmm .. you're the second one to state that , I assumed (without checking ) that the dealers (Triumph) would have put it on in correct fashion..

Will look into the issue , thanks..

Just checked.. sure is ~ the rear wheel despite pattern going same way .. the rotation direction is correct ~

Here is what I started with 5 years ago ~

Been a slow lumpy trail ~

IF I had started with a complete bike rather than a box of bits ~

If I had not redesigned the Mouse trap ~

Would have been well travelled by now ~

Onya Stuart,

Looks terrific mate. Great job.
Those first couple of rides after the rebuild - so many little niggling problems, but they sort quickly and it's amazing how much the bike improves each run. Gave the Norton full throttle for the first time today - only for a brief squirt during the ride. Also took the revs a bit closer to the red as well. Amazing. Really amazing.
Are all old Brit bikes so addictive or is it just the ones you rebuild?
I'll have to get 'sick' for a week or so and ride the Norton up and say g'day! That would certainly complete the running-in.
Cheers,
Dave.

All coming together . I (hope) I have got the leaking rocker box sealed ~ did both for the hell of it ~

( Do a U Tube search on ride the Gillies range. there are heaps of vids . Just sitting otn eh side of the road over aweekend would e as good a the IOM TT ~  )

Glad to hear you have it sorted ~ 'talking' to Graeme M .. the man for your Boyer ~ poor bugger, is havng issues with his new Commando !

Intriguing theory on fitting tyres A about T ~ wrong way round

I just got back home after getting the tyre rotated on the front wheel ~ (Remember ~ that was the issue with my Trident .. nothing else ~ OK..lol)

While I was waiting I ducked down to the SS Bolt man’s shop for a yarn ~

During this, the issue came up about whether a front tyre should in fact ne fitted A about T on purpose.

The theory came from a tarmac road racer ~

His theory is that based on riding style ` that is higher speeds , he asked .. When do you / we need maximum handling ability ~

Answer when we brake ~~ particularly at speed ~

And when one brakes your body weight and bike are forging forward... but you essentially want the tyre / wheel to retard in a motion equivalent of going backward..

Thus the front tyres essentially needs maximum grip !!!

So fit the front tyre A about T!

BTW the way the receptionist at the bike shop was ever so apologetic ~ I said why , not you r fault... when I came back she is still apologising ....

I said not your fault... she said- well we fitted it!! No... It was fitted in Cairns... OH!!! How much... (Quoted me $30 yesterday .. Ahh don’t worry about it ~ )

( So there is some reward for buying at the same outlets ... lol)

But don't you think tyre companies already know that? Which is the reason why they direction mark tyres the way they do-because rear tyre belting construction is laid to resist drive rotation forces and front tyre belting to resist braking forces!

Also with the tyre turned, the carefully designed tread rain groove pattern would be reversed!
