Introduced in 1926 as a baby brother to the SS100 it was, in my opinion, the most attractive (still containing the classic silhouette of the overhead valve JAP engine and distinctive broad-nosed, wedge-profiled, saddle tanks) and manageable (not quite as ridiculously long as it siblings in the BS stable) Brough produced.
Smaller and lighter than the SS100 but still with excellent performance, this is today a very desirable machine, as was proved by a result of £98,000 achieved by one at auction recently in the UK.

Beautiful bike.

Actually much nicer than a vincent in my mind. Funny, I talked to a doctor that owns the 1000cc version and he genuinely treated it like it was just another bike when talking about it, but heck if I could afford a 100K + bike maybe I'd think the same?

Them old Brough's would have to be the in my mind , the most desirable classic to own! Beautifully engineered and very stylish for their time.
Incidently, Lawrence of Arabia was killed (England) on a SS100 and becuase of the seriousness of head injuries sufferd, the attending doctor invented what is now the motorcycle helmet. FWIW

The Broughs were an era ahead of the Vincents. Nearly a generation ahead; hence, the vestiges of bicycle heritage still faintly visible. By the time Vincents found thier high water mark, they were fully motorcycles, and a bit more refined. "A flash in the pan", perhaps, but oh, what a flash!
