Damn bantam wont go!!

Well Ive been trying and trying to get this bike fired up and she still wont go..Ive got a good spark,petrol going through and compression. I have taken the exhaust off to hear it firing better (its a straight through exhaust anyway) and it'll pop pop pop then die..!? Every kick it'll fire maybe twice and stop rather than constantly run. Ive tried adjusting the timing,adjusting the mixture screws, spraying a bit of carb cleaner directly into the carb and still nothing. Any ideas chaps because in at a loss.

Sounds like your cam/valve timing is off (easy to do, even though your ignition tiing may check out spot-on). Starter spray with a good spark will work if the timing is right.

One tooth off is all it takes...

Its a two stroke engine,i was thinking timing,then fuel,then spark then compression but they're all (in my opinion) good enough to make the bike start...?

yup petrol oil mix is good, im runnig it on a plastic reserve tank for now. Ive just took the head off and the bore is knackered!

all pitted etc. So it'll have to have a rebore. Its got a +60 piston in it already so I'll haveto but a +1.0 off ebay.

You'd better replace the crank seals while you have the engine apart.

It has crank seals? lol, ive had the side casings off and all ive seen is that the crank runs in bearings (Obviousley) and thats it...? The side covers do the sealing, but i expect they'll leak so i'll have to apply some gasket sealer. A cheap green laner is turning into an expensive green laner.

Yup, if a two stroke hasn't been run in a while or your don't know the age of the crank seals... replace them.

If you want to give it one more try before tearing into the seals, absolutely make sure the pilot jet is clear. Two stroke oil in the fuel loves to clog those if they've sat for too long.

the crankcase has to be sealed somehow, or the 2-stroke process is fouled.

hi jimmy,seeing as you,re taking the barell of for a rebore anyway,you can check the crankcase seals without further dismantleing,by filling the crankcase with petrol the seals should hold the level for quite a while ,if you can visibly see the level going down then the seals are shot,im not 100% sure but if its a late 150 cc d3 then a 175 barell and piston might fit could be worth checking if you cant bore your barell any more
