I think you misunderstood what Green Hornet meant?
As he said:
Green Hornet wrote:It is intersting to see just how much more they are worth where they were made.
Not
when they were made, meaning that a Commando would cost relatively more in the UK than it would do in the US.
Maybe the patriotism of the British classic bike buyer has had an influence on the UK price of British bikes, and Commandos offered for sale do seem to have been in fairly short supply in the UK lately, so it could also be down to supply and demand?
Becuase bank interest rates are so low at the moment, people have been spending their money on anything that is likely to have an investment potential, rather than leave their money in the bank earning a pitiful interest rate? Also I'd say that £1.00 GBP probably only buys you a similar amount of goods in the UK that $1.00 USD would buy in the US, as prices (because of profit margins on goods & services, fuel costs and taxes etc.) are generally higher in the UK (and Europe?), so it's not always a simple matter of currency conversion, as cars and motorcycles (and many other goods?) have always been cheaper in the US than in the UK.
