From this picture can anyone confirm the possible origins?

That is not a P11 frame. Its the earlier version.
What is the engine and the frame number ?

Is that a monobloc carb - that doesn't suggest P11 either.
So the engine gearbox could be original and earlier too.

Frame number C9311
Engine 70231

I can't confirm the accuracy of these numbers. They were listed with the ad. The description said it is a scrambler project, P11 or G15 of 1968 vintage

Don't know - those numbers make it a Matchless, that hybrid link may show more details.
Found the ad, seller obviously doesn't know what it is. P11 frame alone would be worth more than that, if it was a P11. Not much there, is there....

Rob, The radius on the rear frame section just in front of the rear shock mounts identifies it as an earlier bike than a P11. The P11 frame tubes join at a sharp triangle at the rear. This is probably a G15 and would make a very nice street tracker. It shares quite a few frame parts with other Matchless models, such as G80 etc. The oil tank, fuel tank and other sundry parts come up on E-bay fairly often. I am building a G15 type project bike using a G80 frame and gearbox and a Commando engine.

Frame # is earlier than my Matchless G80CS which is 1965 or so (C11138). The C would make it a scrambler (competition) frame I believe.

Any other engine numbers?

P II has Chromemolly frame & worth somewhat more in most peoples estimation .

Couldve got a whole Matchless rolling chassis in good order of that type once For $ 50 .
Some time ago . . .

Was a CSR Norton 750 version perhaps , No name on timing cover puts it as Matchy / AJS
Maybe . . .

Could be a factory ' Desert Racer ' .

P II is the chrome molly OHC Matchless desert racer with 750 Norton Twin . A.M.C.
Associated Motor Cycles .Manganese Bronze Holdings , Pre NVT .
and BSA owned Triumph.

:(
The one rule to the exception , is theres the exeption to each rule .
