As I've mentioned back when I was a wee lad (some twenty years ago) I use to buy and sell bikes and parts a bit. That is how I've ended up with some of the stuff I have now, such as the Norton and the Sonicweld frame from the BSA thread. In one of the piles I got this Triumph. It was an interesting mix. The frame and engine were 1965 but every single other parts seemed to be off a 1969 Tiger TR6. And most of those parts were new or looked new. For example the tank was almost pristine. It was about half assembled (I think I had to do some engine assembly, honestly I can't remember although I might have more photos somewhere...) so I basically worked on it for a while. I had to use my uncle's garage as I was living in a duplex with no garage. So I'd drive to his place and put it together when I had the time. The bike had a really nice Bonneville head and brand new carbs. I put those aside and instead used a TR6 head and carb.
Once it was altogether I eventually got it started. I probably hadn't had a complete Triumph to work on before so it was a learning curve. With some help from my uncle and that trusty kicking leg (you didn't think I just learned that trick) I got it running. I never licensed (if I recall) it but instead got it titled and then sold it. I probably took the money and bought some more bikes....
These pictures were taken by my grandfather who passed away a couple weeks ago at the ripe old age of 98. The funeral is next Saturday.
