Trying to help a local Norton Club member with one of these . Anyone know the matchless suppliers that could source new restoration quality engine oil lines. These are inlet 3/8 and scavenge 7/16 and are a unique type of bubble flare end. What is the name of this type of fitting.

Hi Dave, your pal's first stop should be AMC Classic Spares in the UK. Have a look here:
http://www.amcclassicspares.com/Petrol% ... 0Tanks.pdf

I think the appropriate part numbers are
026364 Pipe, oil feed
026406 pile, oil return

I am pretty sure the G80TCS and the G80CS used the same oil lines, as cycle parts were mostly identical.
Particular oil lines are not listed in the 1960 TCS spare parts list.

Upon checking, I realize these parts are difficult if not impossible to source. They will probably have to be fabricated, using images as a guide.
Maybe someone in the NA section of the owners club may provide a moulded pattern showing the appropriate bends.

Cheers,

Knut

Knut
Thanks you very much for the information. You are correct AMCclassic does not show the later oil lines. My friends lines were really horribly rough and were not sealing in the engine. I strongly advised him NOT to put them in and and just crank them down. I will likely have to make dies to swage some copper tubing. 3/8 is not problem. I was surprised to see how rare 7/16 tubing is and had found some on ebay. But until I have some in my hands I am reluctant to believe it. If I make one set, I will make a few dozen and maybe have my dealer Walridge sell them for me if he wants to. He is involved with Matchless....I am not. They appear to be dull nickle plated.

Also we looked at why the rear engine mount bolt under these fitting was missing. There was only 2 above and this third bolt hole (5/16cei) was empty. It is a very tough clearance problem...

We'll look for a little while longer then make the lines if we have to .

Dave,

Great project! I am in need of oil lines too! Unfortunately, I need lines for the 1964-type of engine, which differs from the 1963 type of engine.

Have a look at this old thread. There is a reference to John Epp here ("Iron John"), so maybe he's made the necessary tooling to fabricate these oil lines? It's worth a call.

I had one years ago and it is a G80TCS not CST. Did you check amoc-spares.com the spares company for the AJS Matchless owners club (Jampot.com) it is worth a try.
