I got all new engine & tranny mounting hardware, started to fit it all up, but found out I might need to clearance the inner primary "chain guard" lip to clear Jean's custom engine mount plates right at the snail cam primary chain adjuster abutment. The assemblage is thicker than the original single top tranny mount bolt head which must have JUST cleared originally.

 Never thought about that. If you want I could machine a SS bolt with a very shallow head so it doesn't interfere with the primary cover. Let me know.

No, I am thinking of fabricating a nice bolt-on chainguard and mounting it on the backside of the primary cover at the forward point of the cast-in lip where there is an ample reinforcing "shelf" that will acccommodate it quite nicely. Then, I can trim away ample clearance (on the cast-in aluminum lip) to access the primary chain adjuster hardware by simply removing the steel chainguard.

I already have the materials and pattern for this, I used an identical repair on a Commando that had suffered a blown chain. You can't even tell it's not stock.

No worries!

Paul, The chain guard moves with the swing arm and so both attachment points were=are on the swing arm. So how does this work with one end moving and the front side fixed? Have you found a way to build a bracket that uses the swing arm pivot?

I'm talking about the cast-in chain guard lip that's on the backside of the inner primary cover!

Interesting, my sidecovers were red I think, were they different colors or is this creativity?

Did you not see the rest of the bike? Creative license has been taken.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

That's the oil tank. The sidecovers and tank are Candy Apple Red metalflake.

Shouldn't that oil tank have a big dent in it to clear the P11 pipes ?

Nope. Header pipes will be cut, extended, re-welded at a different angle, then re-chromed.

If you make these P11 pipes swing out further to clear the oil tank , tell the rider to allways wear a pair of these :

Don't worry, after the first couple burns the rider learns to splay the legs a little more.

Those are nice boots, but I thought all the flat trackers only turned left? You wouldn't need the steel show part on the right foot...

I'm sure Ludwig is glad he wasn't posting as he built his bike, can you imagine how many people would be going WTF?

Shure .. especially when I molded the seat pan to fit my very personal bottom . Sitting bare ass in curing polyester isn't a pretty sight !
( no pics , no witnesses . I locked the door , and yes , I used a plastic sheet ..)
