how long between spark plugs changes

Postby hobot » Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:59 pm

About how long do ya expect to get by with a set of plugs if not much oil fouling
of bad gas or missfiring conditions, just normal legal-ish riding half the time on ethanal 10%? LIke oil filters whether they need it or not? Seems like i get about 7000 miles before sensing starting delays as a hint.

I have about 29,000 on a set now and see NO need to change them

I change 'em when they get rusty on the outside or whenever I change the air in my tyres. In 100,000 + miles on a Commando, I've never had a Champion fail (but I do run monograde)

I change mine every time I flood it.

Usually every other time I try to start her.

Probably about 17 kilometers between swaps.

twenty nine thousand?

HA my P!! and then later 1st Combat were like that, too rich and fouled plugs in a few miles till I put in surface discharge plugs in P!! and 4 electrode platinums in Combat. I assume if mixture and oil in control there is no life time in our life time on modern spark plugs. Champions are the only plugs that have stranded me at home new out the box twice now. Champions are in Trixie last ~7000 miles so still have to use em when auto parts don't have better.

sorry about your misfortune but IF you cant get at least 10,000 miles on a set you have some thing wrong!!!! most modern stuff will run 100,000 miles on a set so if I was you I would for problems wit your bike.
