Cargo didn't affect cornering much just less get up before wheelie
proneness and braking effort.

I like the Dukes of Hazard clip but other than the brake rotor, the Norton stuff looks scary to me!

The drilled gears and z plates look cool, as does the Dukes of Hazzard serving tray.

Don't drill the tray, whatever you do. Commando parts can be found but that Dukes tray is a treasure.

I'd like to know how much weight you actually shaved off Hobot. Just curious. Care to estimate?

Thinking about it now, I could have drilled out the rear chainring on the MKIII and it would still be structurally sound. I'd bevel the edges on the holes though, which I'm sure you did.

When I raced bikes (BMX and mountain) weight savings was a costly obsession. I always told guys to lose 5 pounds of fat before spending wads of cash on ultra light, ultra expensive bicycle parts.

Peel full of oil and 3 gallon gas with these parts + big steel luggage
race weighted 367 lb. Oil weighs ~7.5 lb/gal, gasoline ~6 lb/gal
So minus 4 lb oil and 18 lb gas > 22 lb, then dry Peel = 345 lb.
This means Combat factory 412 lb had 67 lb removed.
I'd guessimate 12-13 lb of that by drill bits.
Factory brake rotor = ~6.5 lb, Hans Kulger sent if back at 4.5 lb.
Some mass lost by fracturing off center stand, some by expensive
Al replacements like cradle or 5 lb ligher flywheel.

I fully intend to have rather better torque per mass than
best elites, even if I can't match their hp to mass, that
don't really matter much until insane speeds attained.
I've no desire to do over 175. Just want to beat the
snot out of almost anything up to 160 or so.
Peel will have a multi-shot-repeater "Hole Shot Device".
Should only add 3 lb on stem-yoked, not the unsprung mass.

Ludwig's bike weighs less than 300lb and doesn't look like swiss cheese, in fact it is one of the best looking (IMOHO) Commandos I have seen.

Once Ms Peel is tested out by me I'd love for a real BI racer[s] to have
their way with her - while me and whole world watch.

Except for the cam cogs, rocker arms and the flat round adapter,
none of the above is light enough nor good enough for matured
debutant Ms Peel. Museum comic art or just trash to me now.

Rocker arms were regularly taken over 7000 occasionally to 7700
but only in 2nd in the tightest places where Peel was able to
hook up a sideways wheelie to get more zing by making every
curve a fast decreasing radius of acceleration. Ahhhhh....

Rocker arms were tested to beyond tachometer back stop,
way beyond, but have been expert examined and declared
good to 8 grand if I dare. Duntall did his even thinner so
nothing special at all with Peels. Main benefit is push rod
placement becomes a non skill no brainer fast task..

Huh, I've often thought about how much mass is in plain tire air
and topping off with hydrogen for the short runs as it leaks
so fast. He for longer events. Would install a full vacuum in
frame tubes but put oil in there instead.

BTW I have every piece shown -before and after weight recorded.
I even weighted a hole or two in the battery tray to get idea
of what each was worth. Then realized heck battery is tiny
so took a big bite out the center. I did have to tack a
stiffing rod along one edge.

Hole Shot -fork lock down- Device.
It is made from 6061 T6 aluminum and is designed to improve starts by lowering the front end and giving more traction to the rear wheel. It works by simply pressing the button in, which then pushes a plunger out that locks onto the ring mounted on the fork tube. Once the forks are compressed again, usually under braking, the plunger pops out of the ring, freeing the fork to move up and down

Bigger holes needed bigger drilling tool. Once I figured out that
Supertrap was a heavy power stiffler I got rid of all but butt plate
and opened it up which opened up power to embarrass '04 600cc 4's.
I know I could of shot my eye out w/o goggles but lucked out again.
Oh yes deep kettle drums at idle but hot jets roar out 8-10" on blips.
