A hen's teeth rare Interstate Seat ???

Postby nortriubuell » Fri Jan 06, 2012 6:57 am

Being that I have never ever seen another one, and that I "almost" sold mine  Just curious as to how rare a "Corbin Intersate seat" actually is ??? I saw none at the 2011 Empire Rally either. I included some pics of mine for reference. Comments invited please.

I guess it must be very rare because Corbin doesn't even manufacture an Interstate Gunfigther seat which will probably sell a lot better. Maybe it is an one-off as the bottom looks like a modified original steel Interstate. Btw apart from that seat I like your Commando.

I have a similar dual saddle for Interstate, but it's not Corbin.

CNW has exclusive rights to Corbin seats for Interstates but Matt stopped supplying them as there are five (5) different length Interstate tanks out there. Too hard to get a correct fit without the bike there.

As it's a Corbin, Not rare enough! ;P

Used to see the solo gunfighters for them occasionally, never seen the two up Interstsate version around here.

Excellent obeservation on it possibly being an original Norton seat base. :) I never really thought about that. I figured if I started this thread, some members would input some information on it. I bought it a few years off of fleabay, and though it was for a MK III I didn't care. It's easy to make a bracket for a MK III seat to make it work on any pre-MK III. ( just bolt it to the welded on bracket for the hinge) However, not so easy the other way around.

Thanks for the complement on my bike nortonspeed. Took me like 5 years, working only when I felt like on it. Cheers.

The period correct seats from them were labelled "Corbin Gentry" and had no tag sewn in external seams.

Hi
Here is my solution to Corbin on Innterstate.
Cut approx. 5cm. of the seat and moved the 3-4 cm backwards.
So I moved the tank forward a bit, perhaps 1 cm.
Mean the results were pretty good. Had to cut off some of the locking mechanism to the seat because when I moved the seat back, the lock mechanism touched into the the frame.
