SPONSOR GRANDPAUL’S RACE TRIP TO WILLOW SPRINGS & PORTLAND INTN’L.

I’m reaching out to everyone on the forums to ask for help to make a race trip out West to run AHRMA’s Willow Springs & Portland International races. THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS FOR CONTRIBUTING! It’s not tax deductible, and there’s not much chance I’ll be able to give you any publicity from the winner’s podium.

Basically, I’ve got my expenses paid to get to L.A. & back home by delivering a client’s bike and hauling back 2 bikes for a guy here in Laredo.

What I need help with is the extra cost to renew my AHRMA license, get race insurance, pay race entry fees & fuel costs, and travel the extra 1,900 miles round-trip (gas & hotels) between the two race events.

I’ve calculate about $2,000.00 to cover it, so perhaps 20 people kicking in $100, or 40 people putting in $50 each would make it happen (or some combination). What the heck, if you’ve got 2 grand to throw away, one reply is all I need!

So, forget that new rear tire, forget the new bar-end mirrors, chain and oil change; it’s the chance of a lifetime to say you sponsored some scruffy old dude on a scruffy old Triumph to get in a couple of races.

This request is for PLEDGES ONLY. If I get enough solid responses by April 10th, I’ll contact everyone with details on how to get the money to me in time to get on the road, April 19th at the latest.

Thanx for your consideration, and by all means let me know if you think I’m being a jerk for asking for money for nothing, especially in this tough economy.

GP, I will get this ball rolling because you "fly the flag" for the rest of us.

I'm in for $105.00 ON ONE CONDITION , you HAVE TO spend the "extra" $5.00 on Beer (someone else can drink it but you are buying), if we have a deal let me know where to send the money.

Dang, now THAT is something.

It's not that these lilly-white (pink?) lips CAN'T or WON'T drink beer, I just don't much like the stuff. Never did, even in high school & the Navy! REALLY!

If I get to make the trip after all, and any AccessNorton folks show up in my pit, they will get a cold track brew on your nickle.

If you make it to PIR you can be assured I'll drink your beer only because I don't want to let Unclviny down.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

I've had some great comments, suggestions and pledges, about a fifth of the way there in less than 24 hours.

If somebody would just pledge $15,000.00, I'd give them a free monoshock Commando special!

As of today, I have received sufficient pledges to renew my license & AHRMA membership, and make the Willow Springs race including transponder rental.

On to Portland International!

Thanx to all who have committed to contribute!

UnclViny, I'll be at the CMA state rally in Leakey on New Ulm weekend, sorry.

We'll meet up soon enough!

I've got it!

Sponsorship packages to be sent out after the races:

$10 - $40: Autographed, framed photo of the race bike in action

$40 - $100: Signed copy of my book "Old Bikes", and signed, framed race photo

Over $100 - Limited edition signed, framed AutoCad drawing of my race bike, copy of my book, and race photo

Since my printing cost on the second edition of my book were very reasonable, and the drawings and copies of photo are very inexpensive to produce, the net sponsorships will be very beneficial to offset the actual race costs.

Since I'm already virtually 50% to the goal, I hope folks will appreciate the offer enough to push me over the top!

Thanx again to all who have pledged.

(If you already have a copy of my book, I can sign it "TO" whoever you wish, and you can give it as a gift)

Thanx, I'll try to make some kind of "AccessNorton.Com" sign in my laser printer to tape up to the trailer tailgate in the pits.
