Hegeler electric start Vincent Twin

Mr Hegeler from German brought one of his creations to the Scandinavian Vincent Club annual rally 2015. It was handed over to a Swedish customer but he first demonstrated the electric start for some of the club members. Click on the picture below and you will see my video.

That looks to have nearly as much power as a stock Vincent engine!

Looks like a dynamo or Alton alternator at the front in place of the mag, is that right?

If so, do you know what ignition arrangement he uses?

Eddie,
He has made a combo unit housing both alternator and electronic ignition that he has put where the original magneto sits. And where the dyno normally is he has installed a starter motor from a car. I believe also the starter ring is from the same car. He has made the crank case bigger on the drive side to make it fit.

Some more pictures from the rally below. E.g. Neville Higgins inspecting the build quality.

As you you see on the plate on the engine it is EHV-003 meaning Ernst Hegeler Vincent no. 3. He had made 2 engines for him self and a Swede managed after 1 year of persuasion allow him to buy this engine no. 3.
Hegeler makes the crankcases, top ends, the alternator/ignition combo unit etc.

He sells some of the parts e.g. the alternator/ignition combo unit. His site is being updated for the moment as it seems but you find it here:
