Headlight bucket grommet

Postby hh76 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 2:57 pm

I'm looking for the rubber grommet that surrounds the large opening (the one the wiring enters through) of the bucket. Think I'll just find a grommet to fit, but I am pretty sure that the rotten one I cut out had some sort of diaphram. Anyone have a part number, or at least a picture?

Boy do I hate when overlooked parts keep me from buttoning up a task.

Look on page 131 of the Walridge catalog.

Allthough I had a spare one on hand the last time I needed one (painted my headlight bucket) I noticed that my local hardware store had a bunch that looked like they would work. You might want to try that. Faster then waiting on the mail. I hate being stopped by one little thing. Good luck.

Check auto parts stores (like Canadian Tire here in Canada), they may have a gromet of the right size and since it will have been made a few months ago, it will stand up better than a dry NOS item.

The grommets from any of the Norton dealers is anything but NOS.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.
