Postby Sloppy Link » Fri Mar 31, 2017 2:35 pm

Gas tank painted for 1967 P11 but have been asked by my paint man if there is a decal for the silver stripes on the sides....
Dunno, anyone any ideas?

I don't believe anyone makes a decal for the stripes. Painted stripes are not only original, but are not that much more difficult to apply. Use the thin plastic 3M tape to lay out the 3/8 inch and 1/16 inch stripes, mask on either side, and remove the layout stripes. Use some One-Shot sign paint to airbrush or use a striping brush, and bury it with clear.

I prefer to paint the Norton logo as well. It doesn't leave an edge in the clearcoat. Purists will say that is not original.

Remember these were painted by hand at the factory, so they were never perfect.

Thanks Ron, I'll work with that.....unless I see a lazier way of doing it.
