It's usually grey and rainy so all the bright colors just help.

Plus the drivers are not use to a lot of motorcycles so you want to be bright and loud.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

Yellow is the most visible.

I couldn't believe it, I pulled out in front of a M/C this afternoon in the wife's SAAB, not so he had to brake, but I was surprised when I saw him in my rear view mirror. He had his headlamp on too. It may be that he was coming on fast, I don't know, but I did stop and look at the intersection, because it's one of those intersections where you have to strain your neck to look back and I know how dangerous it is.

I've had people drive out in front of me from their driveway while I'm going down the highway out here in the country. People just think no one is coming because there is so little traffic. I had an SUV do that to me in the Miata and it scared the bejesus out of me, we passed on opposite sides from normal and he was really barreling.

Hi Dave the bike looks superb including the seat just like a real proddy racer, I had one of the original ones back in the late 70's. When are you going to get those handle bar clamps re chromed and fit the covers to the primary cover? I think that those parts would really make it look finished, I like what you have done to the tank!

I put those inspection covers on a lathe. Now the openings have a more finished look.

The handlebar clamps are a reminder of what the bike use to look like. Maybe I'll refinish them one of these days, maybe i won't.

It's all just a work in progress.

Bright? You left the door wide open but after the global reprimand, I'm having trouble walking through it. Can anyone help me out.

Like what? Help you out of Michigan. My wife got out of Minnesota 50 years ago and never looked back. 3 weeks of bad sledding. Where you're born is just an aberration of nature. There is life after winter.

I may be a little disgruntled with the posts lately about drivers not giving motorcycles there due. Let's be realistic here. We are, and will always be, invisible. If we ever think anything else, then we are asking for it.

Don't be foolish and mis-assume. It's like saying that loose gravel patch or that miscalculated speed coming into a turn will adjust itself and all will be well. Well, it won't.

Be bright, be loud, but for goodness sake, be smart and never assume.

Swooshdave, don't let those finishing touches be ground into the pavement. Some bikes are yellow, some red, and then some blue, but all blood is red.

We are invisible!

You're right about that, I had someone hit me in the rear fender at about 45mph on the highway one time. Good thing I didn't see them in the mirror, but it scared me anyhow, even more later.

I raced a yellow Fastback in '75, a '70 model with 30mm carbs and the Drum Brake...

Had the brake line by Ferodo at their factory in Chapel en le Frith.....rode the bike there, took out the wheel and the fitted shoes with AM4 linings and skimmed them to fit the drum....I refitted the wheel for a 90 mile ride back home...thats when they said...that brake will need careful runniong in and will grab like hell till its done..and always will when cold.....great news guys...wonder ride home...

Went racing to find, works good when hot....but not when its really hot...so it was good for 2 laps, then guys were amazed that this 'novice' in his orange jacket started out braking them at hairpins and tight corners....if they had looked they would have seen the lever in a 4 finger death grip and flat on the throttle twistgrip rubber....AAAAAAAGH!

Tighten the cable I hear you say, then of course it dragged right from the start!

Oh! and plenty of that rear wheel chatter mentioned in the article....until I worked out you could ease that problem if you set the chain really slack....!
