Finally had a chance to ride the Mk3 after fitting a Ducati reed valve PCV. No oil weeps at all,,, anywhere!
Even the 3rd time used, right exhaust rocker gasket doesn't weep.
The mess dribbling down from the oil filler has stopped,
The weeps from the rocker cover has stopped, (even though I hadn't fitted a new gasket)
The mysterious spotting of oil on the front of the battery isn't there,
Yahoo!
It's not that hard to make an adaptor to fit the Ducati PCV in line.

That oil usually comes from the swing arm bushes, make sure they aren't dry.

No, ebay $20. It's from a 2 valve Ducati, 750 and larger.

The oil was comming out the oil tank filler cap, I thought it may have had a crack in the top of the tank.

I actually had a chance to walk under the Exxon Valdez when it was in dry dock for repairs. There were still Volkswagen Bettle sized rocks wedged in the bottom of the ship.

How does that reed valve work? Looks like a great idea.

Great to hear! I've had one of those valves laying on a shelf for several months. I just need to get the adaptor made up. It looks like its easier to find room for this one than the one from Mike's XS.

Hey Andy, maybe there's hope for us backyard mechanics yet! I was looking at the adapter and it looks a lot like the stantion tube caps on the roadholder forks. I don't know the actual thread size but the od is .895. The od of the threads on the stantion tube is .805. Maybe nothing that can't be fudged with a little crazy glue if you have some spare stantion tubes from those front end benders.

Andy, the thread is 1.5mm x about 42mm dia. The diamiter is approx but it's definatly 1.5 mm thread.
If you can get the hose with the valve it will come in handy fitting to the valve as it's larger than the Norton hose. It fits over the original hose. (with a sleve in the Norton hose so the hose clamp doesn't crush it)
If you get the Ducati valve and hunt around you will find a female fitting that will fit and maybe you can weld, braze, or glue the suitable hose spigot to your female fitting. Depending what it's made of.
i have a small cheap lathe and I had the time to make a fitting.
