Yes.
For sure, tuned velocity stacks would provide better top end performance, but the pictured units would provide no air filtering protection for the motor.
I think either K&N or Uni Filter have pods that incorporate plastic velocity stacks inside the filter that would eliminate the airbox restriction and provide the benefits of a bellmouth intake to the throttle bodies.

Eliminating the airbox does create an unfortunate aesthetic issue, but a faux airbox ( 2 fiberglass side covers) could be fabricated to cover, and even channel air into the area.

Where do you think are the rest of the electrics in the above bike.

Still in tail? Or just a 'display' bike.

No, my dyno runs show the fuelling is still not optimum, no doubt the timing is also set with a reasonable safety margin. Personally I think it has 'enough' for its market niche. I'd just like to see it cleaned up a bit more - it's a little frustrating seeing it run massively rich at some points without the means to do anything about it.

Good evening,

I would post the graphs I have, if it wasn't so ******ing difficult!

Anyway to put the record straight. Ever since I had the bike back in April 2011 it ran rich, and on occasion it smoked. It smelt of unburnt fuel, and riders would refuse to follow behind because of the smell. I only got about 45-48mpg (imperial) at best, whether gentle or hard riding. It has a great top end though, and once was quite happy at 130mph indicated for many miles on the autobahn....

The previous regime of service clowns and contacts (pre Karen, who incidentally was excellent) at the Norton Factory claimed it was remapped to fit the loud silencers, I suspect not done properly. After a long tour in Scotland I complained to Norton about the fuelling and one of the previous service managers suggested that the plugs were faulty, and said to try a new set! Pratt.

The Dynojet team told me the plot was running very rich indeed, Air fuel ratio of 12.0 average across the range, with the new Power Commander it is approx 13.8 to 14.0, according to my reading of the graphs, so I now feel vindicated.

Still, this is all part of the overall "experience" of owning an "enthusiasts" bike, well that's what some of my friends say.

If I can work out how to post the graphs, I will.

Hi Tony, comparing the numbers from one dyno to another is pretty pointless (his engine could make less hp on your dyno), the before and after is all that matters. You'd be hard pressed to notice a 2hp peak difference. But you'd certainly notice a big difference if the mapping was cleaned up throughout the rev range. That's why I'm interested in seeing the before and after graph.

Click on the graph once uploaded and copy the direct link (you'll see it to the right of the photo in the share this photo options). Start a post here click on the Img button and paste the link. I'm clearly thicker than average cos I don't understand the first graph! What's it showing exactly?

I understand the second graph. And I would suggest that the difference shown would be hard to detect. That DOES NOT mean it is not better to ride, the improved fueling will surely make itself felt, but the actual power and torque increases would require the arse of a Princess to detect !

Hello , I am afraid this looks like DIN numbers. Is there any chance Dyno Jet can give you numbers in SAE ? I WILL take the 2 hp and the 2 ftlbs torque on top of what I have any day .. It looks like they have got your AFR just perfect across the rev range ! This engine should pull to the limiter in 5th gear. Mine will now , 18T fr sprocket.. What is the cost to get this done I wonder. ? But the fact is we cannot compare because If these are DIN values then this will be in the 69/70 on a SAE machine. Please get Dyno Jet to clarify convert DIN vs SAE. We use SAE here. Thank You again , and you have done a great service !
