Drums, BIG drums

If anyone is looking for big drums, there is always the Grimeca which is available from Disco Volante http://www.discovolantemoto.co.uk/brakes/cat_3.html or from AJS http://www.ajs-shop.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Grimeca.html. Disco volante also has a number of other brakes up to a copy of the Yamaha 260mm monster. I saw another source on another forum, take a look at http://www.budamotor.hu/termekek.php?te ... _menu_id=1 they have anumber of copies of cool brakes that are much cheaper than the equivalent from Disco Volante, for example:

Ceriani 230 aluminum : 647 € complete wheel : 779 €
Ceriani 230 electron : 762 € complete wheel : 895 €
Robinson 230 aluminum: 647 € complete wheel : 779 €
Manx conical electron : 950 € complete wheel : 1 116 €

The web site mentions contacting them for prices, the above were reported by someone who contacted them and may change. Prices do not include shipping nor VAT (but we shouldn't pay any of that since we are outside the EEC, well some of us anyway)

I didn't get excited until I saw the Menani Magnesium Brake 250mm.

Better than a little blue pill!
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

I have a 210mm Fontana on my Egli and it is very smooth and powerfull... Wish I had a Yamaha TD brake just for the look (210 Fontana are not really pretty!).
I am so vain!!!

Gday Jean, yes theres some lovely stuff in those links! I purchases the Grimeca 230 front hub a while back for my cafe Racer project, Im having to turn 2.5 mm of each side (brake plate) to squeeze them into the Road holder forks, then paint it all black as mine are silver.

Hi Jean,
I'm in the same boat looking at front drums for my Triton, and yes I'm afraid to admit I want a LARGE one for the looks !
I have been considering the Grimeca 230mm 4LS but I've also been bidding on a couple of Yamaha TZ 260mm drums on e bay, these normally go for about $2,500!
Here in Europe Disco Volante are about the cheapest Grimeca dealer but I don't know about the rest.
Thanks for the link and let us know how you get on.

Good Luck

Hi Foxy,
If you use later 7 3/8" trees there should be no need to modify your brake plates. I fit a Yam TD3 which shares the same 130mm width as your Grimeca between my roadholders without cutting the brake plates.

YIKES :!: I should have hounded the guy who was willing to sell me a TZ drum 20 years ago for $50, for some reason I got tired of trying to set up a meeting.

I bought a Grimeca 230mm 4LS for my Commando café racer, I have to be resonneable now that I am officially retired.

Gday All, not wanting to highjack this thread but, as Domiracer pointed out the Grimeca hub is 130 mm wide and should slot into the 7 3/8 Roadholder forks without any mods. My forks pictured below are off Ebay USA and come from Kenny Dreer! I believe they're off an early Commando like DogT's.The pic with the mic,s show clearly not 130 wide, I have also modified the top tree as photos will show so any thoughts will much appreciated!

Foxy,
Try having a friend place a hand on the inside of each of your sliders while applying outward pressure (about this much ==>I I<== ) then remeasure.
Nice shave job on those uppers!
