Commando stop light lead bracket

Postby Matt01 » Sun Dec 27, 2009 8:41 am

Hi Folk - Hope you all had a good Christmas!
I'm pressing on with the wiring on Swampy my '71 750 and have a slight problem (apart from just doing the wiring!).
I have a stop light lead bracket (part no 060693) which guides the two wires to the rear stop light bracket but I don't know what it bolts onto on the bike - I've offered it up to the lower of the three footrest hanger studs but it doesn't seem to be 'happy' there - it fouls the 'Z' plate, so does anyone know what it actually bolts on to?
Regards
Matt (and Swampy....)

It bolts to the lower stud as you suspect - but on the outside of the footrest hanger.

A couple of good shots of an unrestored 850 MkIIA here which showed me the way...

Yes, outside the footrest. The bracket is easily deformed by the footrest hardware. I put a washer under it to prevent it from being drawn into the footrest recess, and washer on top to keep it flat.

Thanks Folk - as usual this board comes up trumps.
The bracket is fixed in place and my brake light lead is now safe and secure. Just got to get it working now....
