Can any one here ( from the states ) tell me if any or many of Allen Clews bikes went over to the U.S.A. ( they're British you know ),
iether, Motor Crossers or built as Dirt Trackers. There was also a Trail/Enduro version.
We had a few here, and I had a 75 Moto Cross, 540cc.
The few that remain are a rediculous price but would like to find one over there as I'm sure they would be
cheaper than England. Having said that, do any of the Brits know of one.
I would'nt care in the least what year it was, 73 to 80 I think was the last of the B50 motors, not sure,
but I would'nt want the latter Rotax engined bikes. I've got an A.T.K. which is similar.
The 77 model with alloy tank, 3 speed and 4 valve head was a good one, and the 78 580cc 4 valve
was the best looking Moto crosser of all time. Chrome frame, black tank and forks, gold annodised wheels and sprockets,
redish seat and the manditory Red White and Blue decals.
The reason for all this is my recent trip to the roadraces at Mac Pck. I would like to try one out against the other
big bangers. I rode my old bike on the Long track ( Mile speedway ) a couple of years after I sold it and the new owner
had fitted a Jawa carb and was running on Methanol, and it was every bit as fast as the Jawas' and Weslakes, but
me and the frame were'nt. Any way enough crap, if you know anything please let me know.

I nearly burst into tears. The 74 model was the first one we saw here in S.A.
The 75s' came with every second Fin removed on the head and barrel, reeearly schmick.
Our local importer / dairy farmer, and # 1 plate holder, was 6' 2"" and 16 stone, You didn't want to be behind him when he Gated in second gear.
I have contacted them, I can afford a SHIRT.

Was a 608 raceing MX in N.Z. in 74 , but was a bit of a ' sunday driver ' , placeing around 10th typically .
Tho saw him get a bit upset and give it a bit of wellie occasionally , Fairly awsome acceleratio mid range .

Don't you mean CCM? Yes, you occasionally see them. I don't see them raced much nowadays.

Yes I do mean CCM swoosh, but if you say 500 ccm CCM, people think you've got a stutter.
Alloy tanks started in early 77 I think along with 3 speed box and Weslake, 4 valve conversion.
They were a pretty decent thing, once sorted, considering the Japanese opposition.
Still an old pushrod, much improved, B50 motor till 80/81 I think. not sure. Then Rotax.
608 in 1974, man she'd throw sum stones. I think those early ones (motors) were long stroke, till 75.

I bet if you ride a CCM long enough you'll develop a stutter.
