Carb questions

Postby travelerjerry » Tue May 12, 2009 12:52 pm

My 72 Combat 932 carbs with 30,000 miles is now giving me a high idle. The throttle set screws are turned counterclockwise where the slide is down all the way. There is play in the throttle slide and carb body. I assume this may be the reason for the high idle. Would I be correct about this?

My second question is which would be the best replacement. A single carb conversion 34 mm or 2 carb installation? Thank's for the replys. Jerry

Air leak?

Maybe time to sleeve the carbs?
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.

Are you certain that the throttle slides are not hanging on their cables when the throttle stop screws are backed off?

My 932's were doing the same thing. I fooled with the screws and it would be okay for a while then after a long ride it would go back to the high idle at a stop sign or light. Didn't have an airleak and just figured the carbs were worn out and needing some attention. Don't know much about the amals and when I get my norty back together I'm gonna run a single VM34 kit.
