Looking into the oil tank, I see the oil return pipe pinched off. When running, the oil breather pipe at the top of the tank spits oil. Seems like something's wrong. Should that oil return pipe be wide open and flowing return oil?

Solved. I found the return outlet hole 1/2 inch below the crimped end, on the side of the pipe. Oil flows out there fine. Now to stop the weeping at the hose connection. Hose and clamp look good. Will order new and re-fit

Easy fixes are the best ones. Glad you found out what it was.
You probably want to go into town, and find a up to date Jap Bike store,
With a full spares department, a clean workshop, and kean young mechanics.
And ask them if theres a Grumpy Old Bloke out in the Hills, who knows how to fix Real Motorcycles.
