Australia Day Ride

Postby T.H » Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:30 pm

Just thought i'd share for those that are snowed in or to cold. Went for a Australia Day Breakfast ride to Boyanup, Western Australia, about 2.5 hours south of Perth. Breakfast was at 0730 so an early start was in order, on the road by 0500 and the temp was already 78.8 deg. took a photo at sunrise about 1 hour out.

Got down there ate, took a photo, met a mate and decided not to do the ride with the older bikes as it was going to get hot!

Rode home in 101.3 deg and jumped in the pool. Still was a great ride besides the temp. Now to wait for the max temp of 105.8deg for today. i think it's time for beer!

Tim I was wondering if you would go. You must have been nice and toasty riding down there and back. I've spent the morning getting the Norton ready for it's inspection tomorrow so I can get it licensed( I hope!). Yep like half of the country I am making a long, long weekend of Australia Day and taking Friday off.
This afternoon I've spent veging on the couch with the air cond on full bore watching Middle Men. A movie about the birth of the online porn industry. Not a bad flick.
Must be just about time for a float around in the Aquaduck with a beer. :P

Pretty cool getting up that early to join in ride fun but after 100'F its like a hair dryer heating not wind cooling the rider - though the cycles can take it. Its injurious to ride that hot not fun to me no more. Winter duck weather here so too hard to start even.
Throw yourself at the ground and miss!

Well if we're bragging about weather,

That would be why my bikes are in the barn and basment.

Weather round here is just hot!!
Friday 41 C
Saturday 42 C
Sunday. 35 C
Monday. 33 C
Although riding round here is still doable you have to be out early or risk being fried like eggs on sheet tin. That all being said if it was always too hot, too cold, or too wet we may as well sell bikes and ride in a/c, heated comfort. Me, I make plans too ride and deal with weather on the day. We can ride 365 days of the year here, it's only the comfort levels that change.
