was thinking of putting the Lockhart Phillips series 1 on the back of my 75. Was wanting to see whats the best way to go and wire them in. Is a single filament the way to go? how did guys marry the old stock female adaptor to the newer wiring? thanks for any help.

The bulb that comes with them is just fine. I cut off the connectors on the harness and the signals and redid them with a proper connector crimping tool and they worked just fine. It is a pretty straight forward task.

sounds good. I'll get a connector for and do the same thanks. I orders the single filament. I see I could have chose dual, not sure which would be better or worse or indifferent??

I'm no expert but have slogged through the learning ordeal for some electrical things. One thing I do know is that you need to stay with the 21 Watt bulbs so they work with our Norton system. I'm trying to find those basic squarish ones in Aluminum with "Clear" lenses & single filements.. So far only found in chromed steel but I know they are out there. Please show us pictures when you've got it going, thanks.

Help out please. Probly a ignorant question, but I am a new Norton owner and don't want to slice on anything without knowing the proper way. These new light have a live and ground wire, norton harness only has one wire. What is the best way to wire this? What do I to with the ground wire on the Lockhart Phillips light? Thanks

Connect the R/H signal pair live wires to harness green/white, and L/H pair to the harness green/red, same as the original Lucas setup.

The metal stem and metalised coating of the housing is the ground path for the Lucas signals which is why they have no ground wire, so connect the ground wires of the new signals to a good ground point, or connect to the red harness wiring.

This is sort of the answer to why so many grounding points.
Your answer is that one wire from the signal switch, the other to the frame and/or bracket.

I am not saying that you cannot have too many grounding point, it's just that the 3 or 4 that you should have must be verified so that things like signal lights, horn and what not have a positive (configuratively, and in the case actually speaking) connection to earth.

Well. Crap. Looks like I may have a wiring problem on the bike. Can't get the directionals to work, This isn't going to be fun to trace! Suggestions? Thanks

As lab said, you can also run the ground direct from the "+" side. Trace the line to and from the switch.

Hey Jeffmack, curious if you got your new turn signals working? If you hooked them up like the stock ones were then they relly should work in my mind. How, what , where did you do???

No luck on the signals. Hooked them up after is talking modern fittings to the stick harness and to the new signals. Stick harness is in good shape. Not a job I am going to tackle right away. Would like to have the signals on the back, but dont mind riding with hand signals for the time being. Something I will tackle when I have a free rainy day. Frustrating but is what it is

Normally you need both front and back turnsignals present for it to work. There has to be enough load to get the old flasher unit to heat up and open the contacts. There are solid state flashers available that will sub in and work with very light loads. Check past threads. I think Pviss and others went thru this before and as I remember there is a certain NAPA flasher that was supposed to be the hot setup. This would probably work OK with back turnsignals only.

Ya they do have to all be connected with good grounds to I think & a diff flasher may work also but I think I found why mine don't work right. The stock bulbs are 12 volt 21 Watts but the new mini ones came with 12 volt 23 Watt bulbs. When I bought them I thought they were correct but I just looked in the manual to 2 check myself & it does say 21 watts. I'll change them & X my fingers.
