Chinese bike manufactured in China. Kind of not the point here.

My goodness!
I hope the thing is really fast and reliable, because it is also one of the ugliest POS I've ever seen.

Reliable? Really?? Since when has that been a concern?

Hi Guys

I cannot understand all this vitriol, it is so destructive

A few years ago, as a proud owner of a Norton 961 SE, wanting to chat with other owners and learn from each other's experiences, I joined the Norton Owners Club in Uk. I got sickened by the continual arguing and slagging off of the Norton 961, generally by so called "purists" who did not even own a Norton 961.

It got so bad that I did not renew my membership. I joined for interest, enthusiasm about the Norton 961, not divisiveness.

After discovering Access Norton, I felt I had found a site dedicated to enthusiasts, no grief or divisiveness, and never never regretted not renewing my Norton Owners Membership.

I think Access Norton has been the epitomy of what an enthusiats site should be, and used to recommend it to every Norton enthusiast I encountered

Some of the vitriol in this post is the sort of thing that went on in the Norton Owners club, I just hope it does not start to go the same way. It would be so sad for genuine enthusiasts who just want to enjoy the banter and information sharing that this site has been so effective in offering

We have a great group here. Sometimes things happen that piss us off and almost always the factory takes care of this group because they care as much as WE the owners do. If you own a 961 and don’t contribute sharing your good and bad experiences then you will be missing out when you really need help.

I originally joined other forums too. But like you said, it was too negative. Believe me, this forum wasnt great at the beginning but we collectively turned it around and now its the greatest place on the net for all things norton. We have CNW and the factory on here. Plus a handfull of die hard tinkering enthusiasts who try things and share to make the 961 experiences even better. If you go back and re read John making a 961 race bike or my dad and Richard Pearce’s 961 world trips. We have all learned soo much from these experiences.

Thanks for joining, you’ll love it here.

I was probably the most hated member (maybe still am) on this forum for posting all of my problems with my bike. Lord knows, I've had many. The frustration was unbearable. I really had to vent. That said, I also posted my progress, the progress of my dealership and MOST importantly the progress of the Norton Factory. Yea, it took long enough but they took notice and stepped up to the plate. They practically rebuilt my bike to keep my happy. Although I get the occasional niggle here and there, I have mostly praise of how cool this bike is and what fun it is to ride. Sometimes I view my bitching as a public service announcement. Now....as for the trolls that aren't owners......
different story.

Funny isn't it................I've asked the question no one wants to hear the answer too, because they don't want to hear the truth.
So once again Norton Factory, what % of parts fitted to a 961 are made in the UK ?

Frames and Exhaust are made there at Donnington . Front and rear sprockets are Talon so are Hubs , my rims say Spain . The Fork and Shocks say Ohlins Sweden . Brakes say Brembo . Instruments are VDO . But where are they made ?? Last I read the Heads and Crankcases are casted and machined in England . Of course many things are assembled there at Donington including the wheel spoke assembly and truing . I saw it , I have pictures . Clearly not everything is made in England . Not Everything on a HD is made in USA .
