Hello all, I am looking for a vendor who has a quality set of p11 high pipes in stock for my 68. I'm in the US but would buy from UK too.

I've seen a few versions, some with a header bend that flares out far too much laterally for my taste.

Here's what I'm after. Any tips appreciated.
thanks

I would defiantly give Walridge a try. Mike is extremely knowledgeable about these Hybrids and carries a lot of stock. It's only across the border for you as well. Link below.

If you check with Waldridge, let us know if he has any if you dont mind, or I'll try to call him next week. Last time I talked to Mike he was out of them. I have also been planning to get another set. There are some here. http://www.classicmotorcyclespares.com/ ... aust_Pipes

With shipping, still under $200 to the US.
I bought a set a few years ago from another dealer in the US and the one on the tach drive side doesn't have the correct bend to it so that it completely prevents the tach cable from being attached. So I've been running the bike with no tach cable but I'd like to resolve that. Mike had told me there were a couple of different manufacturers. My pipes have no markings on them. The ones from Classic Motorcycle Spares have an N70 stamped in them and are made by TJ Wassell. If I remember correctly, that's what Mike said he carried also but he was out of them.

Mike recently received four sets, I got one of them. Haven't tried to mount them yet, but they look good so far.

OK, so I tried to mount them last night and was disappointed. Looks like the same problem as p400 is complaining about on his post.

I don't know, my educated guess says Wassell, but a guess is a guess.

I've always had good luck with Tim Wassell's products (not W E Wassell), but have not bought P11 high pipes. The Commando Roadster, Commando S Model and P11A low level systems have all fit perfectly. I don't know for sure who makes the high pipes that Mike sells. from all the threads I've read recently on the subject, no body is making P11 pipes with the proper bends. Hope that changes soon.

Don't have the proper bends? Cut them, weld them back up, and get on with it!

P11 pipes are not made to fit an N15, they foul at the oil tank and tool box/battery cover, then stick out way too far

Simply make one cut, insert a 3" section of inner pipe, "re-clock" the critical bend, and weld them back up

Presto!

Hi P11 & N15 gang,

While you're fabricating exhaust stuff you ought to make heat shields for those high pipes. I can't tell you how many times I've been burned on my legs getting on and off P11's, often wearing shorts. Only wear long pants while riding and tuning.

I bought one of those 4 pairs from Walridge. Incorrect bend. I don't have the desire or budget to correct the bend and re-chrome. Did you eventually find a set that fit your bike? in which post to p400 describe this problem?

Thanks

Do you know where Waldridge got them? Who manufactured them? I'm still trying to find a pair for my '67 that will fit correctly.

Sorry, almost missed your question. The answer is no, but you might find this interesting. I contacted Walridge with the problem, and they requested I send photos. I did, and they contacted/sent photos on to the manufacturer. ( The "HI MIKE" IS To Mike Walridge)

Here's the response from the UK manufacturer

Hi Mike

These were fine on my bike. (the one I had of you) The cable is hardly an issue as that why the

Armouring is fitted.

Sold 30-40 sets from current batch without complaints.

Happy to send your customer a pair in bare metal FOC if he wants to make a perfect set.

That is an important question, all I can say is, it probably was not Armours, as I'm reasonably sure they don't have a wholesale program. I also tried to contact them via their online ordering, and did not get a response.
