I know I've shared this before, but having a winter season off really makes one appreciate the riding season. When I stare at this photo, it reminds me of good times. So I'm sharing it again.

Just installed a 2016 Head Light on my bike. When I seen the new light I had to have one. Easy to install, just use my manual LIGHT BULBS.

Seems this is our only choice now. The plastic tab that holds the retaining screw in my headlight bucket broke so I have to order a new bucket. Callum Doyle replied they no longer make the older plastic bucket so I will get the upgrade and need spacers that go with it. So what is the new one made from? 74 pounds for the bucket. 3.6 pounds for each spacer. BIg dollars for shipping. Oy.

Meanwhile, there is just enough meat on the tab to hold the clip that the screw goes into, but I'm afraid it won't hold long. A little black duct tape on the bottom until my new bucket gets here.

Curtis,
I have a crack in the shell on my CR that I have to replace.
I was told by the boys at GC that the new shell is the same one used on the Dominator, and is aluminum.

Fred & Curtis at what mileage did your shells crack?

I can't be sure, but I discovered that it was cracked after the electric starter replacement back in June 2015.
Probably around 1200 miles back then.
Just haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

You don't necessarily need to get a NEW Norton light. Others will fit too. Just measure gap between brackets. Not sure exactly what ones but to me it looks like you could make an antique bucket bolt right on.

Let us know what you come up with. Could change the look a little. Something longer and classic could look cool.

That is true. I do like the looks of the one on your bike. What's it made from. DId it come shell only and you kept the original lamps?

Thanks. Complete unit. And the bezel doesn't interchange. I love it too. And being an SE I don't want anything custom. Only OEM Norton bits. But on my dads red bike. We may go to town on it.

Oh. Its steel as far as I can tell. But it has a plastic lens which sucks. The chrome bezel had a glass lens.

Plastic lens?? That really does suck. I'd have to actually wait for the dried on bugs to soften before cleaning it off for fear of scratching it? What's the diameter? Any chance of finding a glass replacement? Maybe I'll just try to repair mine with epoxy or keep searching.

Hi , I have the steel bucket with plastic lens and its fine. I use the same spray on it that I use to clean my helmet face shield . Either Plexus plastic cleaner or Original spray cleaner and polish . Both work great and scratch free. Just spray it on let it soak those bugs for a minute or so and wipe it off with soft cloth..

I bought xpel for my headlight lens. It fits perfect and comes precut and is about .030-.040 thick.
