Hello everyone,

Finally we are live with the new forum. I know there are still things that need doing. Some colors are off and some fonts are wrong. My programmer and I are fixing these things while the forum is live. We have spent hours lately and need a rest.

Please dont email me if you see any oddities. Update this thread and let me know what you are seeing that needs fixing.

This is phase 1 with basic functionality and over the next weeks you will see some cool things added.

Thanks
Jerry

Is the avatar upload file size limitation really 100 bytes? With a recommended 200 x 200 pixel size? Cant do much with that. In fact, haven't been able to upload the most highly compressed jpg I can make at that size which is about 3.5kb.

I have adjusted the avatar size from 100KB to 512KB. Please try and upload it now.

Sweet, just what I was doing. Hope it doesn't come across as pissy, didn't mean to.

No problem. I appreciate your help to find bugs. I think I know about most of them

Your file size is set to bytes not kilobytes.

Ok great. I need a better photo, but this is the one i was fooling with. 65kb @ 360x360.

I have 3 alerts listed that say I have been awarded a trophy. I didn't click on them in case it was some kind of weird spam.

I've got the same "3 Trophies" notification zotz mentioned above. Also, when I am not logged in I can not see any thumbnail images attached in threads, e.g., in "The Official 2017 Barber" thread Swoosh recently posted some images near the bottom of the final page and when I click them, am informed that I must be logged in to view them. Of course they show up perfect when logged in, but most of the time I am not logged in when viewing.

Thanks for letting me know- I will look into the photo viewing for non-logged in users.

I just noticed that links in my old posts, to other posts on the forum, no longer work. I assume that's because they point to the old forum locations. Is there any way for you to fix them with a batch process, or do we need to replace them one by one with the new addresses?

Ken

Hi Ken, the links to old threads will need to be manually updated. This is a completely different platform. Its been a rocky ride to get here and we are still working on things. Unfortunately I was forced to do this due to security reasons. The other forum was insecure and had major problems. It had security holes and was hacked several times. I did not mention much about it here as I did not want to tell the hackers how I fixed it. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are kind of in this together, although I am the driver ;)

A quick update:

1) I am working on the mobile version and things will look better in a few days.
2) I know the font is different in the text editor and we are going to fix that.
3) Styling is off in a few buttons and I know about that.
4) Facebook login integration is not working and I know. I will be implementing Google auto login as well later.
5) I am working on the media section and image upload area. It is working, but needs to be fine tuned.
6) I am working on another lighter theme so you have a choice.
7) I am working on help pages.

Once I get the basics sorted out there are some really cool add-ons that I am excited about.

I have been slammed with this for the last 4 days. Please continue to let me know any other bugs you see. I have to go do my real job now until the end of the week.

Thanks
Jerry

Last night I was attempting to upload a photo to my album via my phone and cancelled the upload. I was then unable to access the site after trying to re upload, which failed and then navigate away from the page.

Today on my PC I had a similar thing happen, this time got an error that couldn't upload image, tried again- wouldn't do it, so navigated away and then got timed out. Still times out after 5 min.

I could immediately access site on my phone though, so am assuming the forum thinks my behavior is suspicious and blocks my IP?

error message.

I just repro'ed this with a different photo, both are 1200x900, one is 1.1mb and the other is under 400kb.
