Gents,

A UK riding buddy of my is over 70 and wants to visit the US and hire a Harley.

He is not having any success finding an insurance company willing to provide him with medical cover that will cover him whilst riding a motorcycle there.

Can anyone assist with any info on companies who can help?

I've not tried US cover but have used Top Dog insurance for European trips as they allow riding motorcycles on their policies. I have used Staysure also but last time I looked at their terms & conditions it wasn't clear if they had changed their policy about riding bikes, and as Top Dog were cheaper anyway I went with them.

Thanks Ian.

By the time US residents are over 65, their medical coverage is provided by the government Medicare system. Overseas visitors usually bring coverage from their country of residence, so your friend would be expected to have UK "travel insurance". If he's renting a bike over here rather than bringing his own, it gets even more complicated.

Us, that's what he's trying to do, but he can't find anyone who'll give cover to an over 70 on a motorcycle.
