Air filter will not fit into frame!

Hi, I ordered an original type air filter from Mike At Aldriges and it would not fit within the frame. I thought it strange and having gone through many photos on this site I have reached the conclusion that my carbs may be mounted slightly differently. It looks like there is a wider spacer between manifold & carbs . I have posted a link to the image below.
So, am I imagining it? If there is a wider manifild spoacer what would be the purpose and the affect on the bikes running

You have long Atlas spacers. The P11 and N15 used a roughly 1/2" spacer, barely larger than the balance nipple. You can cut down the long spacers if you can't get the thin ones. The part you want should be 23358, which is the thin spacer, as opposed to the thick spacer 23872.

23872 was specified for the 650SS and Atlas through 1966
23358 is specified for all twins
