Has anyone tried bolting a rubber flange adaptor (like this http://www.amalcarb.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=37395) to a Mark 1 carb? The carb could then be used with the curved alloy flange adaptors for Amal Mark 2s which would make fitting as difficult as tightening a jubilee clip, and rubber mounts the carbs. All the parts are available off the shelf. Would the whole setup fit into the same space as the standard manifolds and carbs?

RGM Motors sell a rubber mount inlet manifold kit for Amal Mk1.
